Rode Cricket Club (c.1895)

Hello and welcome to the Rode CC website, hosted by the ECB Play-Cricket domain.

Rode CC is based in the picturesque village of Rode, on the North Somerset and Wiltshire border. We play a good standard of friendly cricket and are always looking for new members to play for us of whatever ability. We also have plenty of social activities, including fund raisers such as a clay pigeon shoot, race nights, and others.

The team generally plays at weekends (usually Sundays) between May and September and midweek (usually Wednesdays) between June and August. We also have an annual tour of Cornwall in August to the Roseland peninsular which is the jewel of our social calendar and very popular, for the usual reasons!

If you'd like to play cricket and are based in our area, then please feel free to call the Club Secretary on the number below and he can fill you in on the details.

With the investment of professional advice and sub-contract works ongoing, the wicket should continue to improve year by year. A new pitch rota team is in place for 2010.

For the 2010 season, Rode CC aim to fully utilise their Bola Bowling Machine. This will aid coaching sessions for both the senior and junior members throughout the season. We are also able to hold net practice on the wicket thanks to an ECB Grant towards the cost of an on-wicket net.

* Putting out the boundary markers, scoreboard etc, stumps and putting them away afterwards
* Brushing off pitch after match and replacing rope around square

As usual, if you can't play in the match for which you are making the teas, then feel free to swap with another member but please advise the Players’ Secretary (Stride).

2010 PITCH ROTA:

This season we are relying on teams of players in rotation to tend to the pitch. Whose responsibility it is each week is marked on the fixture list, with the key being as follows:

Team 1 = Andy Pickett ,Greg Harfield

Team 3 = Pete Saunders, James Cooper
Team 4 = Tim Woodman, Charlie Smith

There is a document guide in the cricket store, together with a diary to record all tasks completed / notes for other teams - please
use it.
Please remember as well as preparing the wickets for games, teams also have to regularly cut / maintain the square - sometimes twice a week.
C'mon Stride..give it some beans.
